(Plain Press, May 2014)Art Ledger, owner of A & K Taxidermy on W. 48th Street in the Stockyard neighborhood is a 2014 inductee into the Ohio Taxidermists Hall of Fame. Ledger is the first African American to be inducted into the Ohio Taxidermists Hall of Fame. He is the co-founder of Ohio’s First Taxidermy Association and has served for 40 years as a board member, president and judge.
Ledger is the owner and operator of Ohio’s first state certified taxidermy school. He also helped to develop the equipment and techniques used in freeze dry taxidermy. Ledger was born in Cleveland and currently resides in the Stockyard neighborhood of Cleveland. He is a 1966 graduate of West High School.
