Thursday, December 11, 2014; H. Barbara Booker School’s Holiday Musical Program, 2121 W. 67th Street: Students express their joy and friendship as they await a visit from Santa.
(Plain Press, January 2015) H. Barbara Booker School staff joined with employees of Sherwin-Williams to create a special holiday celebration for students of the school at 2121 W. 67th.
The celebration began with the school choir led by director Cynthia Braun singing holiday songs while students in the audience at times sang along while awaiting the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Retired H. Barbara Booker teacher, Karen Bush, dressed in a green and red outfit, helped to prep the student for the arrival of Santa Claus asking them to listen for the sound of jingling bells that would tell them that Santa was near.
The delight in the children’s eyes was evident when Santa finally arrived. Children took turns sitting in his lap while Mrs. Claus gave each child a small gift.
Later in the day, Santa visited students in their classrooms where each student received a gift from their Christmas wish list. Sherwin-Williams’ employees purchased the gifts for the children. H. Barbara Booker staff member Paula Kasner coordinated the event, working to match each student’s request with a Sherwin-William employee.
