Wednesday, June 19, 2024; Clark School construction site, Clark Avenue between W. 54^th and W. 56^th: While construction of the new Clark School is well underway, a City of Cleveland park, planned for the space between the school and Clark Recreation Center at 5706 Clark Avenue, has received a setback. City of Cleveland spokesperson Marie Zickefoose said the City of Cleveland had to give back the National Park Service grant of $661,724 it had received for the park because they couldn’t gain control of one parcel planned to be part of the project. She said, “The owner of this parcel had consented to sell to City in advance of our grant application, but then changed their stance after we applied.” Zickefoose said the City of Cleveland reapplied for the grant with a new design for the park that excludes the unavailable parcel.
