(Plain Press October 2024) New plans for a new Marion C. Seltzer Elementary School were unveiled at a September 19th meeting held by the Cleveland Metropolitan School District at the school at 1468 W. 98th Street. An article about the meeting by Ideastream Public Media reporter Conor Morris. titled “CMSD unveils new greener site plan for Marion C. Seltzer School after reengaging the community”, indicates that the new school will be built on the footprint of the existing school. During the construction, students will attend the former H. Barbara Booker School at W. 67th just south of Lorain Avenue.
Members of Friends of Cudell Commons Park who strove to save Cudell Commons Park and its mature trees from being replaced by a new school, participated in the discussion to help come up with a new plan. According to the Ideastream report, the park will be saved, and the City of Cleveland has also promised some upgrades to the park.
