Issue I
Passage of the state constitutional amendment would create a process of selecting a new commission made up of citizens – (five Republicans, five Democrats and 5 Independents). The commission would replace politicians that currently draw State of Ohio Senate and House Districts and United States House Districts. The constitutional amendment would also set guidelines for establishing the districts.
Issue 49
Bond Issue and Tax Levy in support of the Cleveland Municipal School District
This issue is a combined bond issue and tax levy. The bond issue would support building and renovating school buildings—it is estimated to cost taxpayers $93 per $100,000 in housing value. The levy would support current expenses of the school district and partnering community schools. It is estimated to cost taxpayers $301 per each $100,000 in appraised housing value. If the Issue passes the taxes will be based on values of properties prior to the recent Cuyahoga County assessment.
Issue 55
Proposed Replacement of Excise Tax on Cigarettes for Cuyahoga Arts and Culture
The tax in support of arts and culture in Cuyahoga County, if passed, would increase the excise tax for arts and culture from the current 1.5 cents per cigarette to 3.5 cents per cigarette for the next 10 years.
