Cuyahoga County program offers emergency assistance for lead poisoning victims

     (Plain Press April 2025) The Cuyahoga County Department of Health and Human Services and Cuyahoga Job and Family Service have an Emergency Assistance Lead Poisoning Program.

     The Emergency Assistance or Prevention, Retention and Contingency (PRC) program can assist with reasonable moving and utility costs related to lead poisoning.

     Eligible families include: a minor child, or a pregnant individual; a non-custodial parent of a minor child receiving Ohio Works First, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and/or Medicaid; at least one member must be a U.S. citizen or a qualified non-citizen; must be a Cuyahoga County resident; gross monthly income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines; and must have a Lead Hazard Control Order or a letter from a hospital stating that a child has been hospitalized due to lead poisoning, or evidence of a blood test showing the child has an elevated lead level of 5ug/dl (micrograms per deciliter) or higher.
