At the end of each school year, Art House invites the public to view artwork created by Cleveland students in Art House’s Urban Bright Arts-in-Education program. This year the exhibition of the students’ work created during the 2024-25 school year was on display at Art House, 3119 Denison, from the opening on May 2nd through May 24th.
The free public art exhibit opening event on May 2nd featured an ice cream social followed by the opening reception.
Urban Bright is an artist residency program that places professional teaching artists in schools, libraries, and community spaces across Cleveland—giving students hands-on art experiences they may not otherwise access. The program encourages creativity, teamwork, and self-expression, while integrating academic and social-emotional themes.
Art created by school children during the 2024-2025 school year was exhibited at the Art House Inc, 3119 Denison Avenue, in an exhibit called the Urban Bright Arts-in-Education Exhibition.
Prior to the close of the show, Art House Executive Director Laila Voss provided a tour of the art to Plain Press reporter and photographer Edie Le Bouton.
Le Bouton viewed artwork from Cleveland students in many area schools and afterschool programs. Le Bouton’s photos offer readers a sample of the artwork from the many schools and after school programs that participate in the Urban Brights Artis-in-Education Program. Le Boulton took photos of artwork from students from: Riverside Community Center After-School Art Program, 3rd – 8th grades; West Side Community House After-School Sisterhood Program, elementary – high school; Luis Munoz, kindergarten – 2nd grade; RG Jones After School Program 1st – 3rd grade; and Old Brooklyn School, 2nd grade.
