The temporary frustration of lane and ramp closures will yield a new boulevard that increases access to Lake Erie and improves green space, biking and pedestrian facilities. IF YOU HAVE RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS and want to make healthy changes in 2015, you can participate in a new research study that will teach you how to increase your physical activity level and improve your diet and sleep patterns. Participation will involve filling out questionnaires, engaging in body composition assessments, having blood drawn, and attending educational sessions over a 6-month period. You will be compensated for your participation. You must be between the ages of 18-65 and able to walk 10 feet with or without a cane or walker. FOUR COED SOCCER DIVISIONS are scheduled for children 4-12. Practice begins the week of August 31st, and games run Saturdays from September 12th to October 17th. Games are played on fields around the near west side. Tennis shoes or cleats and shin guards are required. Cost is $25, but financial assistance is available; for financial assistance, fill out the appropriate information on the registration form. WATERSHED MINI GRANTS
GRANTS OF UP TO $5,000 are now available to groups that work to protect watersheds in Ohio. Eligible groups can apply for funding for general operating (up to $1,000), marketing (up to $1,500) and project-specific (up to $2,500) costs. In addition, a single Spotlight Project grant of up to $5,000 will be awarded. Groups must first contact the Land Conservancy by phone at 440/528-4150 to discuss their organization and project ideas. The application deadline for the first round of grants is August 31.
