ADDICTION
ADDICTION RESOURCE CENTER (The ARC Portal), an online tool to help Ohioans struggling with the opioid crisis, as well as their loved ones, find the care and treatment they need. The site–AddictionResourceCenter.org–could save lives by helping people overcome the challenges they currently face in connecting to quality treatment. The portal, launched by the Addiction Policy Forum, takes people through the science behind substance use disorder in easy-to-read formats, guides concerned individuals through a validated self-assessment tool, helps them develop a proposed action plan, and directs them to treatment resources in their local area.
AUTISM. Are You a Parent or Guardian of a Teen or Young Adult with Autism? If so, consider participating in a research study at Case Western Reserve University about experiences of families caring for teens or young adults (age 16-30) with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Information from the study can help us create programs and services to support families like yours in the community. Participation involves a private in-person interview that lasts about 90 minutes. The interview will be scheduled at a time and place convenient for you. Participants will receive a VISA Gift Card. CLEVELAND METRO SCHOOL DISTRICT
SCHOOLS AS NEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCES, a partnership between the Neighborhood Leadership Institute, the City of Cleveland and CMSD, means that 6 schools are open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights through March when school is in session for free recreation and other community programs. John Marshall campus will be open 6:30-8:30 pm, and the Lincoln-West Campus will be open 6-8 pm. Activities include aerobics, line dancing, arts and crafts, open gym, and more. EMPLOYMENT
“INTRO TO COMPUTERS CLASS”. Are you lacking basic computer skills which are holding you back from getting a job, restricting you at work, or limiting you in life? Digital C, through Restart technology skills building program, will teach basic computer classes for the beginner at the West Side Catholic Center (WSCC). The three-week program will be held twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. There is no charge. All are welcomed. Please call Frank Johanek at 216-631-4741 ext. 167 to register. “WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM.” The West Side Catholic Center workforce development classes assist all people in transition from initial assessments to interviews. The three-week program will prepare you for longer term employment and career paths, all in a one-on-one environment. With daily attendance in the classes, the placements into jobs or training programs is about 95% success rate within a three-month period. Classes run from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday thru Friday and with continuation of training/tutoring, Tuesday thru Thursday 1:30 -3:30 pm. Ohio’s new Workkeys Assessment (another job matching opportunity/often training requirement) is every Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. FRESHLINK AMBASSADORS being sought to raise awareness about the benefits of farmers’ markets in the community. FreshLink Ambassadors promote healthy food access by raising awareness and social connectedness to farmers’ markets within select communities in Greater Cleveland. Ambassadors must be 18+ years of age; must attend all trainings and assigned shifts; available to work up to 10 hours a week between May 1 – September 2; enjoy working with diverse groups of individuals. TRAIN AS A DOULA. Neighborhood Family Practice has announced a career opportunity for an individual embracing the African American community and who is dedicated to the health and well-being of mothers and infants. NFP will be hiring and training this new employee to become both a professional Doula and a Community Health Worker. This is a half time (19 hours/week) position, dedicated to working with pregnant and postpartum women. The doula’s role will be supporting the mother during pregnancy, preparing her for birth, offering support and advocacy during labor and aiding new moms after their baby is born. ONE COMMUNITY READS is a collaboration amongst the City Club of Cleveland, Playhouse Square and all nine local public library systems to create a shared reading experience for the Greater Cleveland community. NORTH KOREA

REPORT POT HOLES to the Division of Streets Street Repair at 216/664-2510 on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. If you report a pothole and then afterwards damage your car driving over it, the city will reimburse you to fix it.

FREE INCOME TAX PREP is scheduled for the Gordon Square Arcade computer lab (6516 Detroit Ave). To make an appointment for tax preparation, call 2-1-1 and explain that you would like to have your taxes prepared at the Gordon Square site OR walk-in Tuesdays 5:30 pm to 8 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 4 pm. (They will take the first 10 walk-ins on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm and Saturdays both 9 am and 1:30pm.) WEST SIDE MARKET
A parking fee structure will be in place at the West Side Market parking lot beginning Tuesday, February 27th. The first 90 minutes are free for anyone parking between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm. After that, parkers will pay a fee of $1/hour with a maximum of $10 per day.
YOUTH
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: Cuyahoga County and Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) are leading a consortium of workforce providers to deliver career and workforce development services to youth ages 14-24 who are eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). The County has transformed its summer jobs program into a paid internship program with the goal of providing teens and young adults with jobs, training, and education that serve as a pipeline to career opportunities. The alliance will deliver comprehensive and year-round workforce services, including career exploration, job readiness, career coaching, ongoing case management, credential training, and employer engagement and permanent placement to program participants. CLEVELAND PUBLIC THEATRE STUDENT THEATRE ENRICHMENT PROGRAM offers a summer job training program for Cleveland teens. For 8 weeks over the summer, teens work with professional theatre artist-mentors in the following areas: acting, singing, dance, writing, performance creation, set design and costume design. Teens receive bus tickets, healthy snacks, paid stipend (or Y.O.U. employment if registered) and will perform in city parks all over Cleveland. Auditions will take place at Cleveland Public Theatre (6415 Detroit Ave.) on March 18, Sunday, 1 – 4pm, and March 24, Saturday, 1 – 4pm. (Teens attend only one audition & will stay all 3 hours. Dates & times subject to change.) To Audition youth must have: an interest in acting, rapping, dancing, singing, writing, or designing, perform a 1 minute piece (dance, monologue or song), and must RSVP by calling Adam Seeholzer at 216-631-2727 x 219 (leave name, phone number & preferred audition date). STEP is for Teens who are ages 14-19, residing in all of Cleveland’s wards, the majority with family income reported at low or very low (TANF qualified), with little or no previous performing experience, seeking new skills in self-expression, goal setting, timeliness, self-discipline and project follow-through.
