(Plain Press, September 2018)  Near West Side resident Sarah Johanek’s rowing team won a gold medal for the United States of America in the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Poznan, Poland in late July. Johanek, a junior at Rutgers University, started rowing in her freshman year at St. Joseph’s Academy in Cleveland. Johanek was featured in a front-page photo in the August issue of the Plain Press. Sarah is the daughter of Linda and Frank Johanek.
